H.E. DR. JEWEL HOWARD-TAYLOR ( VICE PRESIDENTE OF THE REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA)
She is the first woman elected Vice President of the Republic of Liberia since January 22, 2018.
Previously, she served as First Lady of Liberia from 1997 to 2003 and as a Senator from 2006 to 2018.
She then held several official positions in the Liberian government, including Vice Governor of the National Bank of Liberia, President of the Agricultural Cooperative Development Bank (ACDB), and Mortgage Finance Underwriter of the First Union National Bank. She is also involved in education, health and social issues.
In 2005, Jewel Taylor was elected to the Liberian Senate in the Bong County as a member of the National Patriotic Party (NPP). She began serving in January 2006.
A woman of influence, Jewel Howard-Taylor is now one of the central figures in Liberian politics. Since her first election in 2005, she has built an image as a hard-working and capable politician.
She is a graduate of the University of Liberia with a degree in economics and a specialization in banking. She also did some of her studies in the United States.
H.E is the Chair of the Senate Health and Welfare Committee on Gender, Women and Children.
She is the mother of one child.
